So Faith had entirely missed this little bout of Fandom crazy, what with not having future spawn herself. (Birth control. Fabulous stuff.) Had she realized it was going on, she might have been in public more, drinking, pointing, and laughing. Because Faith was classy like that.

But she didn't know. So she was in her apartment, chilling out, watching some TV. Springer. Because, again ... classy.

(For a wee niece.)

At some point during the morning, Maggie decided she'd had enough library and practiced her sneaking skills to get out without her father noticing.

Whether he did or not was another matter.

She had a mission in mind, and someone to visit. Thanks to her mom's notebook o' addresses, she even knew where she was going.

Maggie knocked on the door as authoritatively as her eight year old self could.

Faith muted the TV and tossed her popcorn onto a different chair. She ran a hand through her hair before pulling the door open ... not expecting anyone, but certainly not expecting someone that little.

Wasn't Dawn shrunk again, at least she knew that much.

"Hi, kiddo, can I help you?"

Maggie beamed up at her. "Hi." Then she went in for the glomp-hug combination.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh ....

Faith kinda sucked at glomp-hug combos, but she was gonna hug the kid back anyway. Shit, maybe Dawn had different kid forms and this was just one of 'em. Didn't wanna traumatize the girl or anything by being weird at her. Kinda looked a little like her, anyway.

"Heyyyy," she said. "Long time, no see." ... Probably?

Aunt Faith? ... Seriously?

Faith knelt down and gave the kid a mini-glomp of her own. "Sorry, kiddo," she said. "Just an expression. Did we eat ice cream with the monster movies? Really gory stuff goes best with ice cream."

No idea who the kid was. Possibly Dawnie's, if it weren't that Dawnie would've been this age herself to have her.

.... This was Fandom again, wasn't it? Craaaaaaaazy.

"'course! And then we threw popcorn at the screen because the blonde girls in the tight skirts were even dumber than usual," she bounced a bit, then tried to peek past Faith into the apartment. "Can I come in? I promise I'm not a vampire."

She took a few steps back and twirled in the sun, head back and braids flying. "See? No smoke!"

Oh. Oh, Faith was keeping her, dammit. She stood up and pulled the door open further. "You, my dear, are always welcome," she said, giving the girl a bow. "And you're way too smart to get turned into a vampire."

Besides, no way was anyone letting her sneak off after dark.

... Speaking of sneaking off.

"Does your mom know you're here?" Faith asked.

Faith snickered. "We playin' hooky? Aunt Faith's good at that kinda thing."

She was, too.

She was also trying to figure out how to ask the girl her name without letting on that she didn't know it. Shit.

"Could just give her a call, say I've stolen you for a little bit, you know."

"Daddy's working in the library today, but he had lots of people visiting, so I left while he was busy," she said, wondering if Aunt Faith would buy that. It sounded good and was mostly the truth.

"She's probably off with Jolee and won't pick up the phone," Maggie sulked. "She smells like a total Hutt."

No, she still had no idea what a Hutt was. "Jolee, not Mommy. Mommy smells like Mommy."

It sounded all kinds of good, really. Sadly, Faith was an old hand at the hooky biz.

"Well, that's just covering your a-- ... butt, squirt," Faith said. "If we call and she don't pick up? Then later you go," and here, Faith adopted her best innocent expression, "'Mooooooooooooom, we tried to call. Yooooou didn't pick up.' Totally back to her fault again. Gets you off the hook."

Daddy in the library. Mr. Amazing Hands? Faith wanted to ask who Jolee was but had a feeling she should probably know already. Damn. Little sister, maybe.

That name sounded familiar. Huh.

"I'll call," Faith decided. "You, have a seat, kiddo. And watch some ..."

Springer? Yeah. Not so much. Faith started flipping channels, and frowned at all the options that came up. She handed the remote to the girl instead.

"Here, you pick something good, okay? Aunt Faith'll be right back. With, uh, snacks."

This was, possibly, not the smartest move Aunt Faith had ever made.

Ooooh, remote. "Yay, snacks!"

She parked herself in front of the television and started flipping channels, looking for something particularly dorky or gruesome.

"Serial killer? Yeah, right! That's so a demon."

Totally a bad move, on Aunt Faith's part. But slasher flicks were a step up from Springer. Right? Maybe?

She hopped into the kitchen, glad she'd stocked up on kiddie stuff just in case wee!Dawn came back, and snagged the phone, curious to see if Dawn would answer or if this Jolee person was that distracting. Or if maybe the girl in the other room wasn't connected to her at all, which would mean back to the drawing board.

"I'm Aunt Faith," Faith said, and yes she was beaming. "Winchester, like Amazing Hands? You guys got a pretty cool kid."

Oooooh, Faith even had some of those little packs of crackers that had the cheese in a square and those little plastic knives to go with 'em. See? Totally kid-prepared, here.

Faith re-entered her living room. Oh. Slasher flick. Right.

... Well, she had a demon-hunter-type for a dad, and a Watcher for a mom, and she hung out with Aunt Faith, this couldn't be too new.

"I bet they deserved it," Faith said, plopping down on the couch next to Maggie. Ha, she had a name now and didn't have to stick with 'kiddo' and 'squirt.' Not like she was ever good with names, but still.

She picked up her bowl of popcorn again, offering some to the girl. "Dumb jock, dumb sorority chick, teacher was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time? We know who the killer is yet?"
