She was running. She was running. B had the knife, B was stalking her, an open grave and it was hers, don't slip, don't fall ...

Faith landed on the ground, on all fours. Get up. Get up. The Mayor was standing over her, and they were in an alley now. "Everyone knows what you are," he said cheerfully. "You're a killer."

"Slayer," she said, but her lips were dry and the words wouldn't come out.

And there by the dumpster don't look don't look don't look there was there was a man holding his hands to his chest, blood spilling out, his eyes still confused.

"I didn't know," she said, again, just as helplessly.

"You did know," the man said. And then his face changed, and he was the messenger with a briefcase. The creature selling Ascension books. The volcano guy stop it stop it and he shook his head sadly. "You liked it."

"I've changed," she insisted, trying to stand, but the knife wound in her stomach was gushing blood.

"You'll never change," the man said, but he was her mother now, eyeing her coldly. "Never had any good to start."

And the man the mom the body lying next to the dumpster was gone, and she was in a graveyard now, but she had her knife and the knife wound was gone and she looked around frantically but she didn't see Buffy until it was too late.

"You're bad clean through." And the stake flying down towards her chest and she stumbled backwards no no no crumbling into dust crumbling

"NO!" Faith jerked herself awake, sitting up and gasping for air.

(for the one who stayed)

Faith opened the door and tossed her jacket onto the nearest chair. "Home sweet whatever," she shrugged. "Not much, but it's cheap."

Squall shrugged. "It's good enough. It's a place to stay."

"Besides," she grinned, getting her hands on the edges of his jacket. "You didn't come here for the view, did you?"

Squall looked her up and down and raised his eyebrows. "Actually, I kinda did."

Faith leaned up, a light smile playing on her lips. "How are you liking it so far?"

"So far, it's not bad," he said. Pulling her close and kissing her hard.

The rest of the night ... went as you might imagine. Only louder, and with more broken furniture.

(Establishy, NFI, preplayed with the wonderful whatever_sucks.
This color-changing apartment shit was fascinating. A couple days ago, Faith had slept in and spent the day in her pajamas watching trashy TV, and everything had been a kinda light blue color. Not bad. But she really liked the deep red best, which made sense, 'cause it seemed to show up whenever she felt great. Maybe it was some kinda feedback loop.

She was gonna have to try out angry and sad and bored and all the rest of 'em, sooner or later, just to see what would show up.

But not now, 'cause it was dark red and she was loving it.

(Open!)

So, this was her apartment. Not bad. It hadn't taken long to move her shit from the hotel - not like she had a lot, really - and she kinda liked living in the basement. Sub-basement. Whatever it was called.

She'd been in this town a week and she'd already gotten a job, found an apartment (and rented it from Xander, who wasn't her Xander, not that Xander had ever really been her Xander, except they'd done it once, and now she wondered if they ever had in his world, because this wasn't weird enough yet or anything) and completely freaked out at some guy who wasn't from her past and was dead anyway. Oh, and some cop found her record and was putting her on some bizarre form of parole. Fun.

Faith picked up her phone and dialed Dawnie, just to let her know she was in and settled and all that good stuff. She had a couple hours to kill until she needed to be anywhere, maybe she'd watch TV or whatever.

That's when she noticed it.

When she moved in, the apartment had had the same blah off-white-on-off-white standard coloring of normal apartments, and she'd been feeling kinda uncertain about the whole thing, and she'd totally forgot that Xander had said some crazy stuff about things changing colors.

Right now, she was actually feeling pretty great, thanks, and the carpeting and the walls and even the couch and shit were all this deep, rich reddish burgundy kinda color. Oxblood or maroon or whatever it was called, all complementary shades.

Faith grinned. "I think I'm gonna like this town."

(Open!)
