Yuletide Party! - By the Dorms, Monday Dusk Till Dawn

Between the dorms and preserve, a moderately sized--if only because dragging over more wood than was already stockpiled nearby was far too much work--fire was lit as the sun set and the longest night of the year began. In the main lobby and by the fire there were much larger supplies of spiced cider and ale.

...look, people in ye olde times really liked to get drunk and light things on fire. It was a time honored tradition.

The Magic Box, Monday

Alex opened up the Magic Box, deciding to play around with a few spells once she settled in behind the counter.

She had to load up her arsenal since she was heading home for Christmas. She wasn't about to let her brothers get the best of her. No way.

Grinning to herself, Alex thought of an especially good one to use on Justin. Oh, this was going to be fun.

The Magic Box is open!

Fraser knew the semester was over and that he technically didn't have to be in his office but he couldn't very well let himself enjoy the holidays knowing that he'd missed anything important. So, he was there, finishing up some last minute paperwork and making sure the school was and would be secure during the winter holiday.

And maybe he was getting a jump start on things for the next semester. It was just around the corner, after all, and one could never be too prepared.

Having checked outside earlier, Loki decided there was no fucking way he'd be venturing outside today. He didn't need to get all covered in that tinsel shit. It was almost as bad as glitter except this didn't stick around as long as glitter did. Instead, Loki was just going to finish up decorating his tiny Christmas tree with some generic decorations and lights.

Look, he liked the Christmas season and if anyone asked, he'd say this was for the benefits of his tenants. He was trying to be a good fucking landlord and be merry for the season. Of course, since he wasn't pissed off, it was almost true.

Things hadn't been bad and Loki hadn't really had anything to complain about it. It was weird, being kind of happy. Loki didn't know what to do fucking do.

The Gig, Monday [12/21]

Dani had thought about heading back to Fremont for Christmas, but that would have meant dealing with her brother's stupid fiancee. Besides, California didn't have showers of tinsel falling from the sky.

"It looks really cool, doesn't it?" Dani asked Bold as she tried to pull tinsel out of his mane.

The Gig was open!

MCA Lobby, [12/21]

Mina had turned into a bit of a Scrooge, to be honest. Possibly because she was having trouble balancing the books, possibly because the island was so intent on forcing people to be festive, but mostly because she didn't bloody care about the whole thing anymore.

It was a celebration of birth and life, two things far from what occupied her days. She could not celebrate life when she was no longer amongst the living. Even tinsel falling from the sky could not shake her grumpy mood.

For now, she was seated behind the lobby desk of MCA, working on those unbalanced ledgers. She cursed under her breath as she did so, but she would deny it to anyone who asked about it.

She would be grateful for some pleasant distraction, of course.

Caritas | Monday

Two weeks in a row Adrian had to set up for a party. Well, he made Tino set up for a party. He had to admit that since this one didn't involve Rose, his interest for this one went way down in comparison, but he'd still be partaking of the alcohol anyway, so that made things a little better.

[You are so modding Tino for speedy service.]

Luke's Diner, December 21 (Monday)

Lacey had felt Inspired this morning. Yes, with a capital I. It was that kind of inspiration -- sorry, Inspiration.

. . . to write poetry about Farmville.

Yes.

Needless to say, the staff was cutting her a very wide berth, the better to snicker at her out of earshot.

Today's Specials
Tamari and Honey-Glazed Scallops
Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato Sandwich
Sugar Cookies

Luke's is open, and no. No, that really isn't great art in the process of being created. No matter what Lacey might try to tell you.

...

...

Gettin' real tired of this. Since when am I the responsible one? That ain't right.

Okay, Fandom, this is Lois Lane all by her lonesome again and not bitter about that at all. Let's get to the news and, so help me god, if there's another party to report, I'm gonna strangle people with tinsel.

Hell yeah, Christmas cheer )

Room 307, Sunday Evening

Momoko was laying on her bed, a notebook open in front of her and her pen busy.

Not busy writing, busy playing 'tease the kitty claws'.

She'd finished her own letter to Santa and was supposed to be making out a list of Christmas gifts she wanted to buy for people as well as a list of people who were getting New Year cards, and then a list of people she would be able to maybe visit on New Year (if her mom let her out of the house).

Lists. Yeah. Totally something she enjoyed doing. Not.

Of course she could be packing, but she wasn't scheduled to leave for a few more days so really, what was the hurry. Plus Moshi totally needed playtime.

Konohagakure no Sato -- Sunday Early Evening

Ino was just glad, all things considered, that the rain wasn't sheeting down on them and the sky was a brilliant red overhead with the sunset--there'd been no way to check that out before coming and umbrella's weren't really used much by, well, ninja.

Or by SOLDIER members, she was pretty sure, considering Zack still... didn't seem to own coat. It was cold, geez.

The forest rustled with the wind and the hard-packed dirt road they were on was clearly well used. Ino grinned over her shoulder at him. "It's just a bit further, and we'll be to the gates. You've got your papers on you, yeah?"

Because if not, they were going to have a problem. And Ino would kick Zack in the shins.

[NFB due to distance, and for the SOLDIER with her!]

Caritas | Sunday

Getting dragged into a bar late in the evening on a Sunday was just plain weird. Okay, not Wall of Weird weird, but still not normal.

It seemed Caritas was out a bartender and Clark was the first person dumb enough to respond to Tino's plea for assistance. Poor Clark, he'd learn soon enough that Tino just didn't want to do the work.

Caritas was open!

Kyle was on a very important case. It was the Case of Trying To Fight Off a Cold. You'd figure his Force powers would help him kick it, but no. The stupid thing kept sticking around and he kept sneezing.

Stupid cold.

RAF Mildenhall, UK- Sunday Fandom time

The biggest downside to Jaina's current travel schedule wasn't the time differential. It was that she was going from December in Maryland to May in England back to December in Maryland back to June in England, and it was really kriffing difficult to pack accordingly for that.

Which was probably a factor in how she'd just been feeling a little rundown the first day or two she was at John's and just chalked it up to time lag. By the time the sore throat and stuffy-headed feeling came around, though, she had to accept that she was sick. Not that she wanted to admit it, though, even as she curled up on the sofa not wanting to move and reminding herself that she was a badass who did not need a healing trace for a cold, no matter how annoying it was.

[Yes, another post. Happy holidays, Tracy! :D For the boy!]

Lawn of the Dorms, LATE Sunday Night

Just a few hours ago, the flamingoes had given up on their sudden, magical performance, and retreated to their usual perches for the night. The lights had gone out across Fandom Town, and so no one was awake to witness the start of the gentle tinsel snow. Glittering paper floated down, spreading across the fresh snow, coating it in shimmering colours. It was pretty, it was unnoticed, it was...

The fire alarm cut through the air without warning. The fragile peace of Sunday night shattered into tiny little shards, like a lunatic firing bullets into Christmas decorations with utter abandon. The tinsel? Kept falling. The alarm? Would not stop blaring. The firemen? Were out on the town. It was time for the annual 'strange weather' drill, and no man, woman, or angry pseudopod was going to dissuade them from ushering all the students away from the school.

As they rushed into the school, the tinsel kept falling. Enjoy, kids. We hope you stole a coat upon leaving, or you're going to be plenty cold.

[[ HAVE AT THE FIRE DRILL! Go here for our previous fire drill. Y'all know the drill! ... bad pun. bad. ]]

The pond in the Park, Sunday afternoon

The flamingos were swooping. Soaring. Sliding. Skating. You'd think they'd never heard of Florida.

Dinah had her skates on. And was wobbling, wavering, and whoa'ing.

4th Floor Common Room [Sunday, Afternoon]

Much as Angela appreciated a little bit of snow, there was a point at which even she saw the downside of actually going out in it. Today it had about hit that. So instead of wrapping up and going outside she was in the common room in the midst of a masterpiece of a gingerbread house.

Bits of it were getting eaten along the way, so it was probably lucky there was a lot to go around.

And in case anyone who might worry about testing her baking, this one came with pre-baked gingerbread (since this was rather more an artistic activity than a culinary one) as well as a lot of glittery sugar icing, sprinkles and chocolate. It was lucky she had a good metabolism.

The Gig, Sunday

The horses were not going outside today. This was, quite frankly, fine with Firekeeper and Blind Seer. The pair was content to lay sprawled on a stack of hay bales in the barn, listening to the horses gossip about Christmas presents.

Considering their wish lists consisted of apples, lumps of sugar, and carrots, Firekeeper wasn't quite certain what made the fact that these were 'Christmas presents' all that special, but given her own understanding of the holiday was limited, she wasn't going to argue.
